When a computer is still under warranty, is it reasonable to assume that when it doesn’t work, it’s covered?
Not in all cases - if the problem is caused by software or “operator error” then, under normal circumstances, this will NOT be covered.
Warranties cover the eventuality of a hardware failure.
If you have a problem, discuss it with your vendor as to whether or not it can be resolved under any warranty you may have. You do not want to get a surprise invoice for remedial work if the fault was not caused by a hardware failure.
In essence, if a fault can be resolved without having to replace any components, then it will not be covered by a warranty.
Think of it this way: If you bought a car from a dealer and then had a bump in it, not due to any mechanical defect but due to driver error, would it be repaired under warranty?
