Why are some of Active PC Solution’s computers sold without an operating system?
To comply with Microsoft’s requirements regarding the installation of Windows on refurbished machines, Active PC Solutions offer some computers without an operating system.
Microsoft’s requirements state that a refurbished computer can only be sold with its original license if:
- it has its original Product Key attached
- it is complete with its original installation media or the recovery image is still present on the hard disk
- it has not had its motherboard replaced as part of the refurbishment
If any of the points above cannot be met, then the computer should be supplied with a new, licensed copy of Windows or sold as hardware only.
Therefore some of our computers are sold with no operating system, even though there may be a Product Key attached to the case.
It then becomes the responsibility of the purchaser to obtain and install their own operating system.
